INTERNSHIPS

Milton Equine Hospital offers four surgical internships yearly. Our aim is to provide post-graduate training that will prepare the intern for a residency program, or private practice, through the combination of a high caseload and informal daily interaction with the surgeons. We hope to be able to assist each intern to achieve their individual goals throughout the year, advancing their diagnostic, clinical and therapeutic decision-making skills. Our interns rotate through different services, including surgery, out-patient, anesthesia and emergency services to ensure that they experience a broad range of disciplines. The philosophy at MEH is to provide the highest quality of patient care and the best service to our clients and our interns play a crucial role in achieving that aim.

We welcome graduate veterinarians as interns from around the world. A visit, or externship, is recommend prior to application for internship, however this is not mandatory. Please submit your CV and 3 letters of reference from veterinarians who are familiar with your clinical expertise. For more information, please visit the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) Avenues website and contact us directly at mdesjardins@miltonequinehospital.com

EXTERNSHIPS

Milton Equine Hospital welcomes visiting veterinary students on externships with a view to broadening their clinical knowledge by exposure to our referral surgical cases. We hope to provide practical experience by fully integrating the externs into our team, and in return we ask that the student visits with a willingness to both work and learn. It is recommended that visits are scheduled from March – November, due to some degree of seasonality with our caseload. Accommodation may be available upon request and we will help with transportation from Toronto Pearson International airport.
