The SOA of New York:

Provides its members with fire, disaster, and liability insurance as well as sulky damage and replacement insurance. Call the SOA office for full details.

Negotiates the horsemen’s contract with Yonkers Raceway, which includes establishing minimum purses, fixing purse increments between classes, and maximizing income for our horsemen from simulcasting and all other revenue sources.

Employs Field Representatives at Yonkers Raceway. SOA Representatives are there each race day morning and during every race card to protect our members’ interests.

Works with state legislators, and employs a lobbyist to represent us in Albany on all matters relating to our industry, its competition, and its future.

Administers backstretch personnel benefits for qualified individuals including health and welfare benefits, dental benefits, and retirement benefits. Call the SOA office for full details.

Awards two annual scholarships to qualified individuals to further education beyond the high school level.

Maintains committees to actively protect and further the many interests of horsemen racing at Yonkers Raceway, including a Contract Committee, Legislative Committee, Promotions Committee, Track Review Committee, Membership Committee, ...and more!

Awards cash bonuses throughout the year to qualified series winning SOA members.
