SEARS...10,000
Sears, as good a big-money driver as the sport has ever seen, found the plateau with death-and-taxes Chasin' Dreams ($2.30) in the $6,000, ninth race trot. The 3 year-old Credit Winner gelding quarter moved to the lead, then defeated Striking Encore (Jason Bartlett)by a pair of lengths in 1:57.1.
After the achievement, as required by state and federal law, Sears was presented with the obligatory congratulatory sign.
He began the afternoon getting win No. 9,999 with favored Top Flight Angel ($5.40)-the 2017 Yonkers Trot winner-in the $44,000 Open Handicap Trot (1:54.3).
The 50 year old Sears, a native of Fort Lauderdale, FL, has career purse earnings in excess of $186 million.
