Yonkers, NY -- Yonkers Raceway's pair of "good" Friday night $33,000 Open Handicaps -- a pace for the ladies and a trot for all who were up to the assignment -- were won by pocket=sitters Ideal In Vegas (Jordan Stratton, $6.90) and Backstreet Hanover (Eric Carlson, $4.40).

Ideal In Vegas was a 1:54.4 winner for Jordan Stratton.

In play early from post position No. 4, Ideal In Vegas made the first lead. She then relinquished it to an out-a-long-way Economy Terror (Ron Pierce) well after a :27.4 opening quarter-mile.

It was a :56.3 intermission before Carol's Desire (Jason Bartlett) moved from fourth. However, she only offered cursory pressure in and out of a 1:25.3 three-quarters.

Economy Terror, as the 9-5 favorite, maintained the lead entering the lane, but the first portion of the race would prove her undoing. Ideal In Vegas ducked in and easily went by. She defeated a third-over Cocoa Beach (Brian Sears) by a half-length in a season's best 1:54.4. Third went to Lorrie Please (Carlson), with a tiring Economy Terror and Keeper's Destiny (Eric Goodell) rounding out the payees.

For second choice Ideal In Vegas, a 5-year-old daughter of Western Ideal trained by Anthony Mannino for owner Shore Thing Stables, it was her second win in five seasonal starts. The exacta paid $82.50, with the triple returning $360.50.

The week's marquee trot saw Calchip's Brute (Ron Pierce) leave quickly, working around pole-sitting, lone lass Backstreet Hanover -- she the 9-5 favorite -- before a :28.2 opening two furlongs. Meanwhile, eight hole assignee Zooming (Tyler Buter) also left, but found no room at the inn.

It was Calchip's Brute getting a :58.1 intermission and 1:27.1 three-quarters, with a stubborn Zooming sitting out there and Turtle Express (Brian Sears) slipping out to race second-over.

The leader remained so in and out of the final turn, but Backstreet Hanover was waiting. She edged in inside, getting the jump on a fast-closing Justa Rebel (Jordan Stratton) and winning by a neck in 1:56.4. Third went to Calchip's Brute who did win his private battle with Zooming. A season-debuting Bastille (Larry Stalbaum) earned the final pay envelope.

For Backstreet Hanover, a 5-year-old Andover Hall lass owned by David Hamm and trained by Allan Johnson, it was her second win in four '14 tries The exacta paid $88.50, the triple returned $333 and the superfecta paid $2,603.
