He's Watching leads Monday's NYSS at YonkersHe's Watching leads Monday's NYSS at YonkersFriday, September 13, 2013 - by Frank Drucker, publicity director, Empire City at Yonkers Raceway Yonkers, NY --- The "He's Watching Watch" peers those collective corneas downstate Monday night (Sept. 16) with Yonkers Raceway hosting the $233,087 New York Sire Stakes Jim Crawford Pace for 2-year-old colts and geldings. Three divisions -- worth $77,229, $77,229 and $78,629, respectively -- comprise the event (races one, three and four), as the state's rousing rookie landed in the final event. He's Watching puts his 6-for-6 ($139,908) resume on the line from post position five, with Jim Morrill, Jr. again driving for trainer Dave Menary. Menary also co-owns the world record-holding American Ideal-Baberhood colt with Brad Gray and Michael Guerrero. Among He's Watching's six-pack of wins was a 5-1/2 length, 1:54.2 romp here last month, after which Morrill said, "I couldn't have gone any slower." “Slower” is not a word used in conjunction with this $3,000 yearling. Since that statebred victory, there were wins at Vernon and Batavia, the latter made a bit more interesting by the emergence of All Bets Off. The son of Bettor's Delight-Armbro Penelope made He's Watching work for it earlier this month, beaten just three-quarters of a length in a solid, two-move effort. All Bets Off -- making his first start Monday for trainer Ron Burke -- drew into the same event as He's Watching here, with George Brennan doing the honors from post No. 2. Burke (as Burke Racing) bought into the colt after his last start (sale pending, according to the Unites States Trotting Association). Stay Up Late (David Miller, post six) strung together consecutive NYSS wins (Tioga and here) last month. Monday's opening grouping is led by Big Boy Dreams (Morrill, post two) and Design Guru (Brennan, post five), while Twin B Speedo (Brian Sears, post one) won the draw -- and early favoritism -- in what shapes up as a competitive second division. The Raceway's five-night-per-week live schedule continues, with first post every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:10 p.m. Evening simulcasting accompanies all live programs, with afternoon simulcasting available around the NYRA schedule.
